Food for Families

Crossroads United Church of Christ food assistance ministry will be changing its format and name beginning in the Fall of 2019.
“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40
For the past 10 years Crossroads has had a relationship with Croton Elementary School through our Buses ‘n Backpacks program. We know that students who benefit from the free breakfast and lunch program during school days may go hungry during the weekends.
Each of the past 10 years the school staff have identified children from six to ten families who can benefit from receiving a backpack filled with food to provide meals for their family over the weekends. The Crossroads congregation has supplied this food both with food donations and financial contributions.
Our new Food for Families (F 4 F) program will provide a gift card each week which can be used to purchase food from local stores. The staff will use the same selection criteria to identify the students’ families who will benefit. Six to ten families will be better able to meet their weekend nutritional needs.
We expect that, with continued support from the congregation of Crossroads United Church of Christ, we will be able to continue this program until there is no longer a need.
Your financial contribution to Food for Families will help us to meet the need. Checks payable to Crossroads Church with the notation F4F, or a cash donation using a Food for Families envelope are welcome anytime.
Simple acts…profound effects.
Non-perishable food donations will still be accepted and will be directed to the Crossroads Food Pantry.
